Who this visit is for

Adults who want a proper examination rather than a rushed retail screening. Common reasons people book include tired eyes after screen use, text or faces that are harder to see, glasses that no longer feel quite right, a driver’s-licence form, a workplace request, or an outside prescription that needs review.

The examination is how Rosa finds out what is going on. This page cannot replace that conversation.

What the visit includes

Rosa is an HPCSA-registered optometrist. One patient at a time. She takes history, examines vision and eye health within the practice’s scope, and talks through the findings in plain language. If something needs a GP or a specialist, she says so. She does not perform surgery here.

The calendar is built around about 60 minutes, with a buffer so the next person is not waiting in the doorway. Monday and Friday have one appointment. Tuesday and Thursday run 10:00-16:00. Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday are closed. There are no evening clinics.

What to bring

Bring the glasses you currently wear, a previous script if you have one, a list of medicines, contact lenses and the case if you wear them, and any employer or licence form if that is why you are coming. You do not need a perfect file. Come with what you have.

Consultations are in the Glen Austin rooms.

Three steps

  1. Book your time. Choose a convenient available appointment and say why you are coming.
  2. Get a proper examination. History, refraction, and the eye-health checks that belong in a full examination. Ask as you go.
  3. Choose your next step. Glasses, contact lenses, a report, referral, or a clear explanation. You leave with a plan rather than a guess.

Private billing

We provide an invoice that you may submit to your medical aid, subject to the benefits available on your plan. Exact figures for glasses are given in the room, with frame, lenses and optional extras listed separately. See cost and quoting.

What Rosa explains after the examination

Rosa talks through what she found, in plain language. You leave knowing whether glasses, contact lenses, a report, a referral, or simply a clear explanation is the appropriate next step. If something needs a GP or a specialist, she will say so.

When referral may be recommended

If the findings sit outside what an optometrist can manage in this practice, Rosa will recommend the appropriate next clinician.

Questions before you book

Is a quick screening the same as this visit?

No. A quick screening and a comprehensive examination are not the same. The Village Optom sets aside time to understand why you are here, examine what is appropriate and explain the next step.

I do not have time for a long appointment.

The appointment is longer because it is designed to reduce rushing, repeat explanations and uncertain decisions. You receive dedicated time for the examination and your questions.

What if I cannot find a suitable time?

Choose a convenient available appointment on the calendar. If you cannot find a suitable time, WhatsApp Rosa to ask about cancellations.

After the visit

You should leave understanding what was found and what is appropriate next. That is not a guaranteed clinical outcome. It is the point of an unhurried hour. If glasses are ordered, Rosa keeps you updated on the laboratory process and expected collection date once the order is confirmed.
